Meet The Student Research Team
Graduate Student
Duy Ngo
Duy completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at UC Irvine and joined the Sacco lab in Spring 2019. For his master's thesis research, he is investigating the targeting of a cellular protein for degradation by the polerovirus protein P0.
Graduate Students
Jonathan Lau
Jonathan received his BcS from UC Davis in microbiology. His current research investigates a novel endogenous retrovirus in the plant-parasitic nematode Meloidogyne incognita.
Graduate Student
Karunya Rushyendran
Karunya has a BSc in Microbiology and MSc in Applied Microbiology from DG Vaishnav College of Arts and Sciences (Taminadu, India). Her master's thesis project is investigating candidate transcription factors differentially expressed in resistance to poleroviruses.
Undergraduate Student
Catherine Cody
Catherine is a Biology senior at CSU Fullerton in the Molecular Biology & Biotechnology concentration, with a minor in Chemistry, and her research project investigates plant immune defenses against RNA viruses.
Undergraduate Student
Thomas Bui
Thomas is a Biology major senior at CSU Fullerton in the Cell & Developmental Biology concentration. His research is investigating a macroscopic plant two-hybrid assay developed in our lab top optimize constructs for application to studies of protein-protein interactions.
Undergraduate Student
Daniel Eng
Daniel is a Biology senior at CSU Fullerton in the Molecular Biology & Biotechnology concentration, and his research project investigates a potential role for a Upf1-related accessory protein of the novel nematode endogenous retroviruses (NERVs).
Undergraduate Student
Jason Sims
Jason is a CSUF senior in the Cell & Developmental Biology Concentration for the Biology major and a minor in Chemistry. He is involved in the lab's effort to understand differential gene expression during immune responses to poleroviruses in Nicotiana glutinosa.
Research Opportunities
Our lab is not currently recruiting new students for 2021 - 2022.
